Fun at the rubin

Last night I went to the Rubin museum of art in Chelsea. This museum celebrates artists more religious and spiritual pieces. Last night I saw the exhibit featuring indian artists and there interpretation of architecture in their art. I enjoyed also the beautiful music being played in a nice rug in the foyer if the museum when you walked in. I also enjoyed playing with the Buddha board displayed in the giftshop. This museum is a gem to see and I recommend to check out.
I also ventured into infamous soho where I got to snap some photos of new square sticker art and some new graffiti on a new gallery space opening up on Wooster street.

Macy's day parade... Companion by kaws

Happy belated thanksgiving. Even though I had to work on thanksgiving I was able to go see the balloons get blown up the day before. I am still getting use to new yorks crowd control with barricades that hold you in place. As I walked down 78th street towards Columbus there was no one on the empty street but as I got closer the barricades started to form around me and the sea of people became visible. I didn't realize until it was too late that I was walking the wrong way, against the crowd.... Though she I realized it I just kept going because there was a certain balloon that I wanted to that I was getting closer to. The first balloon was of course santos big red butt.. Then I saw my good old friend sonic, Mickey Mouse, and buzz. The balloon though that made its debut appearance this year was "companion" by kaws. It was about 2 years ago I stumbled upon the statue of companion in the meat packing district and I was surprised and happy to see 2 years later it is now a new star in the Macy's day parade. Everyone around me kept wondering "where this came from" "what is it?" " is it bugs bunny, Mickey Mouse?".... No this piece looks like an old school Disney cartoon at first glance but it is not. He looks like a 1930s cartoon Cthulhu weeping into his Disney like hands. I absolutely love that companion was in the parade. Keeping art alive. I can't wait to see what other surprises this holiday season has in store.
Happy belated thanksgiving.

Demon wrestling

Only at Foxy Loxy in savannah ga. When I lived in savannah I was surprised to find out that down the block my old printmaking teacher at SCAD had turned a beautiful Victorian home into a hip coffee shop that promoted local artist. Non of this flowers and paintings of the coastal empire but inspiring work.First of all if I knew my teacher made such great coffee I'd ask her to make me some a long time ago. But it's so nice to see savannah develop into such a cool city. Now instead of having everything be downtown we now find shops and restaurants popping up in residential areas bringing more to everyone.
Foxy Loxy is the best place to enjoy some great coffee and art in an environment that makes you feel as though you never left your home.
Drink and be merry.
Below are some pieces I enjoyed at Foxy Loxy the fat cat being a favorite of course.

Eat your veggies and fruit

Went exploring around the east side in the 70s and I found the best fruit and veggie delivery truck. I'd buy my veggies from them

Buckyball

Buckyball is a 30 ft tall sculptural light installation. Buckyball is by artist Leo Villareal and is being featured in madison square park, New York City. The installation produces 16 million colors and beautiful light sequences.
The best way to view the installation is by laying in one of the zero gravity "couches" that surround the piece. The couches are like a wavy bench that reclines you back so you can really enjoy the show comfortably, including the piece is located away from the busy city streets which helps the viewers to relax.
